he International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking to recruit highly qualified Research Intern.
The Position: The Root & Tuber Crops (RTC-ACTION) project collected a comprehensive survey data from households and caregiver clubs targeted by orange-fleshed sweetpotato (OFSP) interventions in Zomba, Chikwawa and Mulanje districts of Malawi. CIP is seeking a research intern to conduct a gendered analysis of the data. The aim is that the intern will use the data and analysis to fulfil the requirements of an M.Sc thesis to be submitted to a recognized local university in Malawi as part of an M.Sc program.
The intern will be based in Lilongwe and report to the RTC-ACTION Project Manager.

Responsibilities

The candidate will undertake the following activities:
Analyze survey data under co-supervision by CIP and designated University supervisor
Produce M.Sc thesis approved by the University after successful internal examination, and co-supervised by CIP
Produce at least one journal manuscript and one blog/conference paper/policy brief co-authored by CIP

Qualifications

What are we looking for?
B.Sc in agriculture, farm management, agribusiness management, agricultural economics, economics or related field.
Currently enrolled in M.Sc program (in agricultural economics, economics or development economics) in a recognized Malawian University.
Successfully completed M.Sc coursework
Knowledge of Stata, SPSS mandatory
Good knowledge of survey data analysis
Excellent performance in quantitative techniques (Statistics, Econometrics, quantitative methods)
What are the conditions?
This is a Research Intern position (for 12 months), limited to candidates who are currently enrolled in M.Sc program in agricultural economics, economics or development economics and have completed coursework in a recognized Malawian University.
