As Programme Accountant, you will utilise your project and programme management experience and skills to provide technical support for the implementation of donor funded partners. In addition to some administration and maintenance of the office systems, you will advise on financial planning, budget utilisation, reporting and capacity building and work both in the field and in Sightsavers’ Blantyre and Lilongwe offices.
This role would suit someone with excellent project management skills who holds an accounting qualification and who has experience supporting donor funded projects within International Development and who has excellent stakeholder engagement.
Planning and budgeting for Donor Funded Projects
Review and check cost effectiveness of partner proposal budgets
Develop and provide grant management support
Develop Proposal budgets for new proposals
Train partners in financial management, systems development and reporting requirements of Sightsavers and donors
Monitor partner financial practices and systems through visits and spot checks.
Support, administer and strengthen financial management, accountability and capacities of partners
Ensure proper financial monitoring of projects
Essential
Diploma in Accounting (ACCA, CIMA & PAEC)
Experience of supporting financial aspects of programmes and projects within an NGO/INGO
Excellent project management skills
Demonstrable experience of building relationships with, and supporting partners
Experience with presenting technical information to a non-technical audience
Experience of capacity building
Excellent communication skills
Understanding of international development issues and a commitment to equality of opportunity for people with disabilities.
Availability to travel to projects sights and offices within Malawi
Good Excel skills (i.e. VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, creating formulas)
Desirable
A professional qualification in Accounting
Experience within International Development
Working knowledge of SUN ACCOUNTS
