United General Insurance Company is a dynamic and leading short term insurer providing a wide range of short term insurance solutions to clients. We are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacant position of INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY MANAGER The incumbent will be expected to professionally drive information and technology solutions and services for the success of the organisation and will among other duties be expected to:

  • Develop, formulate, implement and monitor ICT policies, procedures and strategies.
  • Spear head information and technology related research and development and implementation of new ICT solutions.
  • Ensure that disaster recovery and business continuity plans are in place for all digital services and that these are routinely tested, weaknesses identified, and appropriate improvement plans developed and implemented.
  • Develop, implement and maintain customer service platforms to achieve effective service delivery.
  • Participate in vendor contract negotiations for all software and hardware purchased for the company and ensure all acquisition and maintenance contracts are favourable to the company.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance
  • Champion information behavioural changes and digitization across the company so that data and information are valued, owned, appropriately managed, quality improved, and better exploited in a timelier manner
  • Make ICT a business enabler
  • Provide information and technology support to the users
  • Handling of internet security, data privacy and back up
  • Manage the company’s relationships with national and international ICT associations
  • Identify and resolve computer system problems as well as network and connectivity issues.
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets
  • Perform any other duties as delegated by the superiors.

The candidate is expected to:

  • Have a minimum of a university degree in computer science, Information Technology or an IT related field.
  • Have and participate in modern social networking platforms.
  • Have an ability to quickly grasp business risks and make sound decisions
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to ICT
  • Have not less than five years’ practical experience in a busy organisation.
  • Be a result oriented and self-driven ICT champion.
  • Be a team player.
  • Have analytical skills.
