Chemonics International Inc., an international development company, is implementing a multi-year activity for the worldwide Human Resources for Health In 2030 rHRH2030) Program, funded by USAID HRH2030 works to build capacity for strategic planning and management of Human Resources for Health in Malawi. HRH2030 in Malawi is seeking one short-term position based in Lilongwe. This position is open to all qualified candidates. Program Coordinator: Under the guidance of the program manager. the program coordinator will be responsible for coordinating with the project team and key stakeholders in implementing government-to-government IG2G) activities in the supported districts He or she will work with the supported districts and key HRH stakeholders to.
• Help establish and functionalize through regular meetings a multi stakeholder G2G task team that will provide a conducive environment for and oversee implementation of the G2G HRH activities in the districts.
• Schedule meetings and coordinate all workshops aspects with partners and external stakeholders including invitations, venue and event management, note-taking, activity budgets and financial transactions and post-event follow-up.
• Provide operational and technical support in the recruitment, deployment, and induction of the USAID G2G supported healthcare workers in the supported USAID districts.
• Support establishing and help monitor a system for monitoring and supervising health care workers in the supported districts to improve health worker performance, reduce absenteeism and enhance health worker morale and retention
• Help establish and functionalize a system for supporting USAID funded labor costs in the supported districts.
• Prepare and contribute to quality and timely activity reports for USAID Reporting.
• Monitor implementation of planned G2G activities to ensure that planned activities are accomplished on schedule and with good quality.
• Coordinate implementation of a pilot healthcare worker mental health intervention, including identifying stakeholders and mental health resources organizing meetings and workshops, and preparing quality and timely reports.
• Support procurement and financial documentation and backup for regular processing of transactions and accurate record-keeping
• Organize internal files and ensure compliance with company policies and USAID regulations.
• Other administrative and operation tasks, as assigned and needed.

Responsibilities

Clinical Activities
o Oversee the quality of the histopathology services at QECH
o Provide timely and accurate diagnostic histopathology services by releasing histopathology reports and expert clinical feedback to the medical team time according to the needs of QECH laboratory include cytology, biopsy, surgical, and other biological specimens in a timely manner
o Participate in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings with other specialists, ensure that oncology care respects the international clinical guidelines and patients’ interest as best as possible taking in account the resources and context
o Standardize all histopathological reports according to international recommendations
o Supervise the MSF Laboratory Manager in the day-to-day management of the histopathology orders, stock management, SOP development as well as ensuring the safety environment by reducing biohazard risks and improving infection control
o Give technical guidance to the medical and logistical team in the collection, preparation, and transportation of the pathological samples
• Teaching
o Provide teaching to medical students, interns and registrars and train the technicians in proper sample handing and preparation procedures.
o In partnership with the College of Medicine, Ministry of Health and external partners, explore the possibility of starting a specialist program in Malawi.
• Monitoring and Evaluation / Operational Research
o Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material
o Participate in the development of project strategy, budget planning, and monitoring and evaluation (reporting) of related medical activities.
o Work with the MFP and the coordination in networking with the professional medical societies both locally and internationally. Participate in high-level meetings regarding pathology when requested by the mission
o Build an ambitious operational research agenda with the support of external academic partners and Epicentre.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of professional experience in implementing development projects, preferably in the health or human resource sector in Malawi.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in development, human resource management, public administration. industrial psychology, or related field.
• Knowledge of donor regulations. basic finance and operations, relevant employment and labor laws applicable to Malawi.
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Power Point
• Self-motivated, with competence to assess priorities. manage a variety of activities in a time sensitive environment, to meet competing deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse team members and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently with variety of stakeholders, meet deadlines and set targets.
• Must be willing to travel extensively to the districts with partners and stakeholders as required.
• English fluency required.
