Reporting to the GIS Officer the GIS Technician shall collect and analyse spatial and temporal data for the Board’s existing and proposed water supply infrastructure in developing and customising computer program used in Geographical Information System.

The GS Technician will be responsible for collecting geo-spatial data for GIS analysis for the Board’s water supply infrastructure, comping geo-spatial data in form of satellite images and geographical surveys, entering new data in the GIS Database; ensuring that GIS maps are annotated and compiled with correct information, correcting physical features, networks and any other network related infrastructure: providing basic specialist training and support services for Board’s internal GIS users, inducing maintenance of GIS customer training database and associated customer feedback; and demonstrating commitment to service delivery programs of the Board by personally identifying and reporting water bursts/leakages to customer care Division of which verifiable repair records shall be tendered to be used as one of the components for assessment during ones performance appraisal time.

The successful candidate shall have excellent understanding of GIS principles: demonstrated GIS reporting and data mining took, negotiation, organizational, planning analytical, communication, decision making report writing and project management skills; ability to meet set targets timely, multi-skill, solve problems, digest diverse data into actionable information and having attention to detail, and develop and maintain meaningful working relationships; honesty and high integrity.
